Well I finally got around to buying a new PS3 last week ! Had been pretty happy with my ps2 till now.. loved playing games like the GOW titles... the POP trilogy and the nfs titles (pro-street sux ass tho :))

So... I got Killzone 2 bundled with the console.. just finished that one and it wasn't bad. I picked up Assassin's Creed over the weekend which I've just started.

Thing is .. I'm not finding a lot of games I like. There seem to be a lot of FPS titles out which I'm not overly keen on. Theres Motorstorm which I'm not sure about.... and the new POP looks too much like a Final Fintasy type game which again I'm a bit iffy about.

So are there any good games I'm missing out on ? What are some must-have titles for PS3.. I like racing games, RPG's and good action titles (but not a big fan of FPS's).

:)

I'm in the same boat as you mate I bought the Killzone 2 pack the other week. I hate FPS on consoles so I sold KZ2 straight away and got Metal Gear Solid 4 which I'm pretty into at the moment. Other goods games to check out would be Dirt, GRID, GTA4, Star Wars: Force Unleashed and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. I also bought Assassin's Creed which is pretty cool as well.

COD World at War is also pretty good despite being a FPS. The control scheme is much better then any other I've played recently. Last FPS I played seriously on a console was Goldeneye on N64 though hahaha.

If ur not into FPS check out Fallout 3 its been a hugely popular game.

Maybe hit ur local DVD rental shop and check out a few games,
Skate (altho oldish now) was a great game.
Both Call Of Duty 4 and 5 are totally worth a look altho FPS.
Both Resistance titles are worth the play but I wouldn't buy them.
Little Big Planet is heaps of fun and even tho it looks like its a kiddy game I highly recommend taking a look at it!
Guitar Hero is well mint I would buy this one its fun for everyone, great at parties too.
If you have kids Star Wars Lego Complete Saga is a must its easy enough for little ones to play along yet still fun for older kids and there dad's
NBA Live 08 is a great one if ur into sports games with all the features you could want. Or take a look at Smackdown Vs Raw for a sweet wrestling title.

Hope that helps some, if your gaming online feel free to send me an add, foxymophandlmama (no e)

fallout 3 is an FPS.......

little big planet is fun for all of half an hour, then you realise that youve done just about everything in the game after the first few levels and it gets very old very fast.

if youre going the music game route, dont get GH - get Rock Band. MUCH better game with far better support for DLC.

Uncharted is worth a look, probably the best PS3 exclusive game there is atm.

I was buying the Ps3 games before I bought the console because I was waiting for it to be bundled with a dual shock 3 and be atleast 80gig. Also I waited until I could get a HD tv as well.
Just saw an advertisement the other day... 160gig Ps3

The Ps2 was keeping me busy for ages and I still have alot of games I have not finished or even played...

I also got that KillZone 2 Bundle... sold it straight away for $70 and got Resi 5 for $84.
FPS and RTS games are better suited for PC in my opinion... nothing beats the mouse and keyboard for those types of games

I've only got 16 games so far, but the ones im playing at the moment are:
- Resident Evil 5 (finished a few times... playing co-op at the moment)
- Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (just finished)
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Target In Sight (if you liked the ace combat games it sort of is the same)
- Street Fighter IV
- Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma
- Army Of Two
- Dead Space
- Tomb Raider Underworld

Im about to start playing:
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- Grand Theft Auto IV
[Team Blue Steel Mica | Team P-Plates]

HULK is a liar

Im in a COD:WaW phase right now.. online is amazing.

favourite car game is GT5 prologue, but anxiously awaiting the full version when ever they decide to release it.

Other favs are Killzone2, Resistance 2, guitar hero etc..

Motorstorm got too old too quick for me, and i played street fighter 4 once, and almost threw it away.

Fallout, although in the first person is still considered more of a strategy game rather than a run n gun which is what most would consider an fps.

As far as LBP yeh to physically do everything once doesnt take long but if u get into building ur own games for laffs and mucking around online and playing others I think saying its got 30 mins of game play is being a fair bit harsh its just game that lets you have a bit of fun freedom and use some imaginagtion.

GH or Rock band = 6 of one half a dozen of the other ... if ur keen for rock band dont go for RB 2 as I hear its very hard to get the bundle in Au at the moment....I could be mistaken on this. Oh and I also hear RB is releasing Pearl Jams remastered version of TEN as well.....that would actually be enough to sway me :-D

U like uncharted Liep? I thought it was kinda dull myself.

Some one said Tomb Raider hell yeh awesome fun game if you have liked them in the past you'll like this one too.

@ desolate.... if its more hard drive space ur after on ur ps3 its not hard to change out ur hard drive for a bigger one, search for it on youtube, from memory its just undoing 2 screws, sliding out the old one and slotting in the new. And it doesnt void ur warranty. Alternatively slip into Harvey Normans and grab urself a Western Digital "my passport" external hard drive it uses usb connection and is plug n play.

Thanks for the input so far guys :-D

I'm definitely going to be getting GTA 4.. GRID looks nice so will check it out. Oh and I'm a big fan of the Burnout series so the new will defo be on the list !

The gameplay in Fallout looks okay in the youtube vids... as fox said it doesnt seem to be a "shoot anything that moves" kinda game. Never been into guitar hero/rock band and the like so will pass on those...

Time for a trip to my local dvd rental rip-off merchants Blockbuster ! :) ;-)

x2 all you need is a 2.5" laptop hdd. Almost any SATA laptop hard drive will do !

from harvey norman? thats such a dodgy deal - theyre taking 80gb PS3s and just switching out the HDDs. all good youd think, but not if you ever have to send it away to get fixed - you need to send the original HDD in with the console. they dont give you the original HDD, so youre screwed.

on LBP, i agree, if you are really into the creating levels thing then you could have hundreds of hours of fun. im not though - i dont want to pay $90 for a game and then also have to spend dozens of hours making the levels to play. and it seriously does take dozens and dozens of hours to make a single level of a decent length.

RB2 isnt out here yet, with no release date set (and quite frankly i dont think its ever gonna come here) so i suppose its just RB1 for PS3. i imported RB2 for my 360 from the UK, as they are the same region as us so all my DLC works with it. on the PS3 the DLC is region locked, so if you import RB2 it wont work with any of our DLC unfortunately.

the RB instruments are easy to come by now, they just got another shipment in. they had been sold out for months and months, but theyre everywhere again finally.

ive put well over a hundred hours into GH/RB games, probably closer to 200 (yeah i know, im sad :() - completed GH2, GH3, GH:WT, RB, and RB2 on expert guitar and up to hard drums (half way through expert drums now) - RB is just the better game. everything is more professional, less buggy, etc. and there is about 10 times more DLC.

i enjoyed Uncharted, and saying its the best PS3 exclusive isnt really saying much IMO . it took me 7 hours to complete, and i did get over it before the end, so yeah its not the most exciting game.
